Cooperation with Leipzig University of Applied Sciences

The department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK) is carrying on to strive for a high level of quality in education to countervail the decreasing numbers of applicants for a university place that is caused by demographic reasons. ‘An education that complies with modern requirements and prepares for the actual work as an engineer guarantees for a high interest in the studies.’ says Prof. Sturm, who has acquired local assistance in this semester. ‘Quategra’, a company in Leipzig, which deals with the development of safety sensitive embedded systems (e.g. for the use in biomedical equipment) and also holds trainings in this special field of work, could be employed for lectures at the HTWK. The executive director, Olaf C. Winne, describes the potential and specifics of the use of modern microcomputers during his course of lectures. ‘Such a close connection of university and practice is a great benefit for both sides.’ comments Mr. Winne. And Prof. Sturm adds: ‚Of course this is also a good thing for Leipzig as more young people decide on an education in this city because of the attractive courses of studies.’ That way he sees an option to satisfy the increasing demand for engineers.

ARM Ltd. acquires a licence for the Quategra ARM Embedded Training

Last month ARM Ltd. obtained a licence to use the English training materials for our ARM and Real-Time Library training. We are delighted about this cooperation.
During the five days of the training the design of ARM-based processor cores (ARM7, ARM9, CORTEX-M3) is explained and the specifics that need to be regarded when developing C-programs for ARM-based embedded systems are exemplified. The participants learn how to design efficient software architecture and how to use real time operating systems in the most effective way. To provide the participants with an immediate benefit many practical exercises are made.

Our Partner Willert Software Tools offers a one day introduction to the subject of UML for embedded systems. The course will be held in Bueckeburg.
"In just one day we will provide you with an overview about the most important UML base elements and will use them in practical exercises. During the course we are focusing particularly on requirements of embedded software engineering. Admittedly you will not be able to apply UML after the workshop, but you will be able to make the first steps e.g. with an evaluation environment, in order to deepen your impression."
